How do I view your CAD drawings.

Once you have engaged us to fabricate your project, we quite often draw up the proposed steelwork using ’Solidworks’ CAD programme.If you wish to view the drawing, you can request an Adobe Acrobat 3D PDF drawing along with a detailed working drawing from us.
These will come in Adobe PDF format and can be read by anyone with Acrobat PDF software.
You can then approve or modify the design by emailing or calling us.

Planning your own project and would like to know more?

Here at Standley Steel, we regularly get requests to supply and fabricate steelwork for home extensions or new builds – this type of work is what we specialise in.
A modern trend nowadays is for day room/ conservatories to be built onto the rear of an existing property along with ‘open plan’ living. These both would require steel beams or sections to support the walls above. These can be designed for single skin internal walls or, cavity walls. The latter usually require a pair of Universal Beams connected together in a pair.
If you are considering changing or updating your property, here are a few things to consider before proceeding with your steel enquiry or order.
The main thing is to plan well ahead and recruit the following tradesmen in the following order:

* Engage an architect.
* Consult a structural engineer (Your architect may do this for you)
* Recruit a reputable builder.
* Provide accurate measurements prior to fabrication.

Standley Steel can offer a measuring service for a nominal fee.

Note: The final design by the structural engineer may differ from the original design by the architect. We always work to the structural engineer’s working drawings as this is what will be required.

A common issue we come up against is clients, particularly first time self builders, expecting bespoke fabrications to be available ’off the shelf’
This is not the case and sometimes the steelwork would not be available for delivery to site for a considerable time.
We always try to get the steelwork out in the shortest possible time but, this may not always be possible.
